PGL Confirm the Major’s Date, but the Location Remains in a Hang State

The organizers of the upcoming CS:GO major, PGL, have released yet another update on the event. The company still hopes that the tournament will take place in Stockholm. However, they are ready to relocate the event to another city if the Swedish capital will not be able to accommodate the event with live crowd. No matter the location, the playoffs stage of the event will be played on November 4th – 7th.

The company’s goal is to have an event accessible to players, staff and fans – “if only a small group of fans are able to attend, then the event might as well take place somewhere else”. For this reason, they are awaiting that the Swedish authorities will lift restrictions for the major. First, they expect the government to allow all players and staff to enter the country – this change to the entry rules should come in force on August 23rd. Second, the company hopes that the indoor restrictions for events will be lifted by September 15th, allowing them to have a full house during the playoffs.

If these two measures will be applied in time, the major will be played in Stockholm as planned. If not however, the organizers are ready to host the event in another European city without changing its dates.

PGL Major Stockholm 2021 will be the first CS:GO major since StarLadder Berlin Major 2019. For this reason, the tournament’s prize pool was doubled to $2,000,000.
