OG Fail to Advance to the Group Stage of IEM Cologne

The Play-In of IEM Cologne 2021 has concluded. One of the main surprises of the stage was that OG, who are currently ranked #13 in the hltv rating, failed to advance to the group stage. In the deciding series they lost to the Australian underdogs Renegades (0-2), who earlier also managed to upset MIBR (2-0).

Following the Play-In stage, Ninjas in Pyjamas, BIG, mousesports and Complexity have advanced to Group A, while Team Vitality, FaZe Clan, Spirit and Renegades have made it to Group B.

Unlike the Play-In stage, the group stage will have only best-of-three matches. The first round of both groups will begin today (UK time):

Group A:

• 12:30 PM: Gambit vs mouz; NiP vs Liquid
• 3:45 PM: VP vs BIG; Complexity vs G2

Group B:

• 7:00 PM: NAVI vs Renegades; Vitality vs FURIA

IEM XVI – Cologne is a LAN-event with $1,000,000 at stake, which will conclude on July 18th with a best-of-five grand finale, the winner of which will claim $400,000 and a point towards Intel Grand Slam.
